What is the PopitzPillow?
PopitzPillows are a series of patented, FDA-approved, and medically designed head support devices. They have been noted in several Anesthesiology textbooks worldwide, internationally studied and approved as a positioner that places the patient/user in the "sniff position" to maximally open the breathing passages. They are available for both the supine position and the lateral position. The PopitzPillow has been sold globally for almost 30 years.
The PopitzPillow places the patient into the sniff position or the ramp-sniff position with a wedge shaped support beneath the upper torso and shoulders, permitting more extension of the cervical spine. Their original purpose was for ease of placement of endotracheal tubes.
